To all New York Firefighters,
I have been married to a Federal Firefighter for 26yrs now. He works at Brooks AFB for 27 yrs. and has been a firefighter since 1970. In the next couple of weeks he will be moving over to Lackland AFB on the flightline. He does not want to retire untill 2008. As his wife I worry every day he leaves for the station. As he drives out the driveway I pray to God to please return him to me safe and sound. Something that helps me get through the days he is at work, is a prayer I came across:
A FIREFIGHTERS PRAYER
When I am called to duty God
Whenever flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To pull the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor and
protect their property
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life
Please bless with your protective hand
My family one and all.
