Persons who commit heinous acts should be
prevented from doing so. Persons who are
involved in these acts are acting as slaves to
their own hatred, anger, fear and ego, are we
to become these same kind of slaves? I've
read of a man whose fear, hatred and
suspicion of other races caused him to call for
the extermination of those races, many
cheered him at the time, I don't think many
cheer him now.

Dear Heather:

Even though I was born in Colombia, My parents are of German/Italian decent. My father served in the US Army in the Second World War and was awarded a Purple Hart for saving single handedly 45 US soldiers. He also served in the diplomatic corp. Like my parents, most of us come from foreign backgrounds. NOT all of us are from extremist Arab blood. WE are all foreign. Even dough my parents are American 3rd generation. I agree we need to kill the cockroaches but not the kittens. There are many God fearing good people from other countries.

Looking for info on an old family friend, Thomas "T.J." Filip. Last I saw him he was living in Brooklyn, working as a broker. If he is still living in NYC it is likely he would've been working in the WTC or the immediate area. Not sure for which company, though. T.J., friends in Johnson City, NY would like to know if you're ok....

Please contact Joann Wargo at guinnessgirl@altavista.com

HEATHER - You are not the only one who is upset, you are not the only one posting here who is born and raised in America. Your feelings are worth respect.

Perhaps your posts would not receive criticism (though you claim to not mind it) if you had a little intelligence behind the solutions you suggest. Take a deep breath, turn on your brain and try to think logically. Who here is not from an immigrant background - whether born here or not. I know many people of Middle Eastern background that are 2nd generation Americans. This is their home - they cannot get on a boat and go there!

To all New Yorkers and Americans everywhere from Portland Oregon. We all witnessed this tragedy and our prayers and thoughts go out to all who are personally affected by this. I know I brought my whole family together and we all prayed for all of you. We are tremendously saddened by yesterdays events but our spirit remains strong! We are americans and all are willing to die to protect our freedoms as many of our predicessors were! I love my country and the love and support and togetherness united as a nation is a wonderful feeling It is sad that it takes a tragedy like this to bring us together but lets use this and make our world a better place to live. Much love from all Oregonians to our friends and fellow Americans in NY and Washington DC
