In Mt Ayr, Iowa, all 3 local gas stations gouged their local residents. Casey's, Lynn's Texaco, and Smith Oil. Shame on all of you, for taking advantage of your local, loyal customers, in a time of crisis. Residents of Mt Ayr; drive to the nearest town and buy your gas, from here on out!!!!!

The perpetrators of this terroristic and atrocious act have not been found as of yet, so it is premature to blame one group of people. It is not religion that is evil, but the bastards that abuse it and use is as an excuse for their actions. Let's try to avoid stereotyping and making broad generalizations against a specific religious group. This gross act was a crime against all humanity, inclusive of Muslims and Christians. The Muslim community worldwide is outraged and disgusted by this act of terrorism and is doing its part to facilitate the healing process. Here in Mississippi, some opportunists saw the need to take advantage of their people. While there have been some reports of "price gouging", it was announced by our governer today that these people would be prosecuted and therefore the prices have gone back down. I did notice yesterday though (and today), that the Exxon Tigermart not only left their prices the same here, they actually dropped the prices in some areas - GOOD FOR THEM.

I hope Hertz (or any other rental car agency) did not take advantage of this situation, but if they did, they should certainly be prosecuted also. But like someone mentioned, a lot of these agencies are franchised and I'm sure this was not condoned by the coporate company.

For those people involved in the gouging they should be embarrassed beyone belief and how dare they claim to be an American.

I am from Dallas Texas and on our local coverage of the events from yesterday, they have been broadcasting a number, not only for gas price gouging but grocery stores, rental cars, everything. Please take this number and call them about your rental car and all of the gas prices in your that have been raised. From my understanding this kind of monstrosity is supposed to be illegal. I don't see how people who take advantages of Americans during the horrible tradgedy can honestly call themselves "Americans". May God Bless All of Us.

In the interest of fairness, I sent an email to Hertz with this URL to get their corporate reaction. I will post their response if/when I get one.

In concerns to Hertz raising their prices, inform anyone that has had to use this company to keep their reciepts. As companies that are doing this are having to refund the customers that they are gouging. For example there was a gas station owner in Oklahoma that was charging $5.00 a gallon
for gas. Exon, Mobile and other gas corporations were outraged. The gas station owner had to refund all the customers that he had over charged.

To add to my previos message, I work for a HUGE auto and property insurance company. I will not recommend Herts to all of my customers that need rental vehicles due to claims issues. This will hurt them as we are nation wide w/millions of customers!

From Green Bay Wisconsin....I could not believe the events I saw unfold the morning of Sept. 11th.
Although I was hundreds of miles away, these series of events will be etched in my mind for the rest of my life. I also could not believe my eyes when I saw a certain group of Mobil & Marathon gas stations in and around the Green Bay, Wisconsin area all owned by the same corrupt man. Gas prices in the $3.00 - $4.00 per gallon range, and to make it worse when a local radio station brought this to the attention of their listeners he had the guts to tell us that he was raising the price & donating the additional money to the local Red Cross! Amazing, considering the prices at these same stations began to drop shortly after all the media attention. I don't beleive this was his plan from the beginning for one minute. This man is as evil as the people behind the destruction in New York and Washington.

The same kind of people that flew the airplanes into the World trade centers , the same ones that want us to panic, to create chaos , then we will be at the mercy of those very same people. this is not a one time thing , it is not over (my own oppinion)If we do not stand together and do not go to those that are price gouging let them go out of business , because sooner or later they will need your business to survive .. boycott them
