God Bless America
This, from a Canadian newspaper, no less, is worth sharing.
America: The Good Neighbor.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator.
What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.
Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts.
None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped.
The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped
billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.
I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?
If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?
Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon -not once, but several times and safely home again.
You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at.
Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded.
They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.
I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble?
I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.
Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one
Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get
kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."
Stand proud, America!

I watched in shock on Tuesday morning as this tragedy unfolded. It was like a dream, like it wasn't real. It still doesn't seem like it should be real. My heart, my thoughts and my prayers go out to all the victims, their families and all those who are there trying to sort through the rubble trying to find survivors. God be with and bless all of you.
My deepest sympathy to all of the U.S.A.
It's so hard to expect the fact that these animals
could live normally in America and among the American people for a year or more knowning what they where going to do, to kill thousands and thousands of innocent people who just went to work.
The last thing I want to happen is WWWIII, I my Canadian, but I think President Bush has to do what every it takes to get justice for what has happen, for the innocent people who lost are lives, for all the Amercian people, for the whole world and to stop terrorism once and for all.
My heart and prayers go out to all of the U.S.A.,
GOD BLESS AMERCIA, exspecially President Bush for
what he is about to do, what he has to do, and what he must do.
GOD BLESS THE WORLD.
God Bless America. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Canada will stand strong with you and help rid this world of terrorism.
My heart bleeds for you. May God Bless my American friends and help to heal this terrible wound in all of us. My thoughts, prayers and support are with you always. *kiss*

I really don't know exactly what to say except that it is hard to imagine the pain you are all going through. We feel somewhat a part of it here but only through what the media portrays and we know it is only a small story of what many are going through. Just remember that the memories are what you will always cherish and each day is a gift for us to live our lives. Remember that those who perished want us to continue to dream and to live out our lives in their memory as they would have done. In working where these people did (world trade, pentagon, airlines, cops, firefighters, rescuers, maintenence)..they had aspirations to be the best and so we will continue to remember what they have contributed to all of us. We pray for whoever and whatever network of evil that began this in hopes they will turn all of themselves in to save everyone's peace. And we think of those going in to save our freedom if this network of evil refuses to give in. Our condolences.
From all of Canada to all of The United States... all our thoughts and prayers are with you in this, the time it is needed most. Our hearts go out to every American and what you are going through. I am a Canadian who has been planning on moving to the US in February, and those planned are still what I am looking forward to. The terrorists and haters of the world can not stop your drive, determination, and pride. God bless america and keep standing as you have been...with your heads held high.
To all you Americans out there, I am only 11 but I say that what I saw was heart shattering it was a sad experiance to watch. My heart goes out to all those that are suffering still and those many other Americans that lost there lives or lost a friend or family member. I hope that all the bomding stops soon before a world war three starts. This shows just what ethnocentrism can do to this world.
STOP THE PAIN TO ALL OF US
