To everyone who reads this I am sorry to hear about everyone who lost a friend or even a loved one. I am going to say one thing. Every night when I go to bed I wake up in the morning wondering what will happen in our school today.

Where does one start? We all as a country and world feel sadness for such a senseless tragedy. But, each of us needs to wake up and try to make this world a better, safer place to live in. If you are an adult, reach out to a young person...it's pretty easy to see the ones in need. And if you are a young person and feel anger, hatred and isolation, PLEASE turn to an adult. We do care and will help in any way, even if it's to just listen. To the familes and community of Littleton, you are in my thoughts and prayers daily.

I watched in horror Tuesday night as the story of Littleton was shown. I'm a junior and athlete at my highschool in North Carolina. I knew there would be copy cat pranks and yes we had two at my highschool last week. The second one causing parents to pick up their kids and the school having to be evacuated shortly after 2pm. I cant imagine what people must be thinking to want to have so much hate or need attention that bad. I had a serious discussion with my parents about this and wish every other parent and student would just take some time to get reacquainted with their family. Knock down old differences and become families again.
Discuss problems in your lives and truely seek help from someone.

The students and families at Littleton are in my heart and prayers.

I will be the first to admit that I do not n=know much about this Columbine High School massacre. But with the little that I do know is that this is absurd behaviour is completely unnecessary. The reasons behind these massacres is made out of sheer hatred and confusion. It reminds me of another incident that occurred last year involving an 11 and 13 year old. This took place in America and I was most appalled at this situation. These children went on a rampage of killing because the older one's girlfriend no longer wanted to be with him. As they were under the legal age for them to be punished as adults (the oldest one being only one year younger) they did not receive the death penalty from the state. Whereas had they lived in another state or had they been a year older then what would seem to be satisfactory punishment was not established for the mere fact that they were to young. Is this justice?
I am sorry for digressing on this angle but the Columbine massacists took their own lives and this, to the public, may seem like a just punishment. I would like to take this opportunity to say that their deaths can never compensate for the loss of so many innocent victims.
It is hard to believe that this massacre resulted out of mere white-supremacy. I live in New Zealand and I believe that this country is not exactly a racism-free country. However, it was just today that I said to a friend that I had never so much racism anywhere else in the world than I have in New Zealand. I have been to America and through Europe and to China and Hong Kong and also England. But never have I seen as much hatred than in New Zealand. Despite this . . . these hate-massacres have altered my views. In America there is a lot more action taken upon these emotions of hatred.
These incidents should not have happened and that is all I can really say about that for now.
For the sake of our future . . . can we really afford to let this continue?

Twenty days after the Colorado school shootings, President Clinton
mobilized gunmakers and the entertainment industry on Monday for a national campaign against
youth violence.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert applauded Clinton for holding the meeting and urged more
discussions.

The National Rifle Association - angry at being excluded - bought newspaper ads accusing the government of failing to enforce
laws already on the books. NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre said Clinton was ``dusting off every tired old
gun-control bill that has been around his administration for the last six years.''

The NRA said that in the last two years, federal authorities prosecuted only: 11 juveniles caught with guns; 11 adults who
illegally provided guns to juveniles; and 37 felons who acquired guns through others.

THE KILLERS WERE VICTIMS WHEN THEY WERE ALIVE

When my television show was first interupted by Littleton, I could not stop thinking about the situation. The dead, especially the killers, continue to be in my thoughts.

First of all, I think it's a shame that those 2 young men felt that they had to use weapons and violence to get respect. I hold some of the blame on the 'jocks', as the boys called them, for pushing Eric and Dylan over the edge. I would imagine that their psyches were already frail without the torment. Both of them, especially Harris, were obviously psychologically disturbed, and this is not an excuse; what they did was absolutely wrong.

This does not justify what Harris and Klebold did to their classmates, and they victimized a lot of innocent people (innocent from treating them as subhumans), but I feel that I can understand why they did it. They weren't born monsters-they became monsters.

I personally know what it's like to be like them-outcasts. It's not fun. This was the ultimate revenge: taking the life or lives of a person or people that mess with your head. People are jerks. Not everyone, but there are a lot of people who like to make themselves feel good by putting other people down. There have been times where I would have loved to have hurt people like that.

Columbine should serve as a lesson to mankind that we need to show respect for our fellow human beings, regardless of how different they may be. It is neither fair nor logical to put someone down simply because they are different from you. It is truly a shame that society believes that everyone should be a stupid, non-thinking clone.

I don't think that Eric and Dylan are subhuman for exploding. I feel sympathy for them. If I had ever met them, I believe that I would have tried to reach out to them to make them see that violence isn't the answer. I wish they hadn't taken their own lives, not so much as that I want justice, but I want to show them the love and caring they seldom experienced from their peers. They deserve that much.

OTHER THOUGHTS:
I'd like to say that I can't believe that the idiots in the Senate killed a bill which would allow background checks on gun purchasers.

The parents of Eric and Dylan must have had their eyes up their butts, were in denial that anything was wrong, or were too busy living their own lives to pay attention to their sons. Who knows? But they definitely should hold some of the blame. Parents-be responsible for your children!!!

It is true, when just 2 weeks before the massacre on Oprah, that author said, that "Kids cry bullets" when they don't get the help they need from friends, teachers, parents, and all the other people around them.

Cassie Bernall is now a hero to Christians the world over. I'm very proud of her, too. It was the ultimate test-and she passed with flying colors. I hope that I can do that, if ever faced with her situation. With prayer, I know I can.

Finally, I have a few comments about the crosses for the desceased. I believe that the killers should also have crosses, but not near the crosses of the people they killed. Eric and Dylan should get the respect they deserve in death which they hadn't received in life. They are human beings, too.

SHAME ON YOU, AMERICA.

ONE MORE THING--

As far as the Senate killing the bill for the background checks-

really, how much effort does it take? How long does the process take? A week, tops?

Is it not worth saving peoples' lives???

MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE VICTIMS OF THE COLUMBINE
SHOOTINGS. IT WAS A TERRIBLE TRAGIC THING THAT
NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO FACE. WHEN ARE PARENTS
GOING TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF
THEIR CHILDREN? WHERE ARE THE PARENTS OF THESE
KILLERS AND WHY HAVEN'T THEY TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY
FOR THE CHILDREN THEY RAISED?

STOP THE VIOLENCE!

Sign up for a great program here in Colorado.

ART Excel
All-Around Training for Excellence

The ART Excel Course specifically addresses the stressful situation in today's youth. Teenagers and children are under a great deal of stress in today's society. Although a great deal of emphasis is placed on higher academic standards, little has been done to provide students with the tools to survive in a highly stressful society.

Sources of stress

  • Single parent family
  • No extended family support
  • Peer Pressure
  • Drugs, alcohol
  • Early Sex
  • Poor Nutrition

Results of stress
  • Anger, frustration, leading to violence
  • Alienation, leading to gangs or suicide
  • Depression
  • Addictions
  • Teenage pregnancies
  • Dropout

The business world has seen the importance of stress management training for their top executives to prevent burnout. Now the field of education needs to incorporate these valuable tools within their curriculum. The simple, yet powerful techniques given in the course help students relax and release accumulated stresses, as well as develop a sense of belonging with fellow students, teachers, administrators, and families.

The ART Excel Program focuses on:
  • Developing a feeling of belonging among themselves and adult role models
  • Fostering human values, emphasizing compassion, love, peace, and service
  • Introducing a very specific set of breathing techniques which release built up stress and teach students how to manage their emotions in positive ways
  • Emphasizing service and the development of service projects which impact the family, their community and the world

Ongoing follow-up programs are offered to reinforce the values learned in the Art Excel Course and provide continuing support for students.

Dear CHS parents, students, and friends,
I'm deeply sorry about what happened! If I could turn back time and find a way not to have any of this awful stuff happen, I definitely would! If I could've I would've given my life just to save all that died and from having this happen! I may only be 13 but I understand a lot of what is going on! You have my prayer! May you lead a happy and wonderful life after you get over this tragedy! Good luck! Here is a poem for you guys!

Keep the dream
Peace is like a rolling wave that has not yet reached the shore.
Growing bigger everyday as people accept it more
Will it become a tidal wave and bring peace to our land
It's up to us to keep the dream and give it a helping hand
Accepting others as they are and not what you wish them to be
Stop racism, hate, and violence against each other- this is the key
It's up to us to choose it's fate
Stop all crime, racism, and hate
Let peace roll gently to the shore
And flood our land forever more

Bye! Peace and love to all! Katrina
