I am looking for information on the port/dock area of Taichung. Anyone know if the port is still operating?

Concerned about family in Taichung and Puli (Nantou Province). Phone lines are down... Has anyone identified a means of contacting people in the most affected areas? I understand it's early and there are people who are in distress and need (and they may even be family).

I wonder why most people think that the mainland China will take advantage of Taiwan's tragdy. It's ALL about lifes but NOT about politic. Taiwanese are also Chinese. Don't be that stupid to think China will take advantage of this chaotic situation.

Our son and his wife, John and Carla Wheatley, just went to Tai Chung a few weeks ago with the Hess company to teach English to the school children there. They recently rented an apartment there, which they are sharing with an Irishman, first name Conor. Not sure of the last name He also is an English teacher for Hess.

Our son was able to call shortly after the initial shock. He reported that their building had sustained only slight damage at that point, but authorities were evacuating the building at that very moment, anticipating after shocks. He and Carla are back packers, and they were able to grab their packs with pup tents and other survival gear before they left. They did call again about two hours later from a pay phone to let us know they were still ok.

Will post any further specific information of conditions there, when we hear from them again.

I spent the first 17 years of my life in Taiwan and 5 years at the Morrison Academy boarding school in Taichung. Has anyone heard what kind of condition the school is in and if there were any casualties?

I tried to call my parents
and police department in Tai-Chung, Wu-Feng
in the past 8 hours without any luck.

Jesus said there will a increase of earthquakes and these are birth pains. I pray that you all repent and believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ who has paid the price for all of the world's sins by His precious blood.
No-one else has ever claimed to be able to take away the sins of the world but Jesus.
Jesus said, You must be born again to enter the kingdom of God. He is talking about a spiritual
rebirth.
The death of loved ones is not over if you receive the free gift of salvation from Jesus and those that have died physically in the Lord you will see them again.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Those that do not receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior will spend eternity in hell.

My prayers are with you all that you come to know the truth and whatever we are enduring here on this earth will have no comparison when we are in the kingdom of God.
