The Florida Keys were ordered evacuated Sunday as meteorologists warned that the chain of islands likely would be brushed by the storm and the Bahamas would see Michelle by Monday morning.
The storm made landfall on Cuba's southern Zapata Peninsula, 70 miles southeast of Havana, around 4 p.m. Sunday, and was still hovering over the island by late in the day.

Hurricane Michelle is in Nassau, Bahamas right now. It was on the West portion of the Island first and blew trees, roofs off. It is now moving towards the East part of the Island. Trees are down and the wind is ferocious.

I'll be interested in seeing what type and how much hurricane aid the U.S. sends to our neighbor Cuba. We seem to have no ethical trouble feeding North Korea while they supposedly threaten to bomb us, but not even a note of condolence for Cuba who has never lifted a finger against us. Could this have something to do with Bush's brother catering to anti-Castro sentiment?

I am looking for my family. My father Jon Newell lives just outside the Fresh Creek area of Andros, my sister Christine Albury lives in Nassau, my brother Ed Newell on Abaco and my mother Trena Knight on Little Exuma. Just want to make sure they are okay! Its so hard to get through. Please let me know if you see any of them! Thanks!
