When the Kosovo refugees were leaving Kosovo in their thousands, these were welcome images for the Western media. The media dogs tried hard to prove that these were not the result of NATO bombardment and escalation of conflict, then of the Serbian ethnic cleansing.

Now, when the refugees are being turned back to Kosovo by Serbian authorities, the theory of ethnic cleansing is in tatters. Up comes a new theory. The media dogs say: these people are going to be used as human shields (an insurance policy, in case NATO happens to drop a few more bombs on civilians).

Who can make the West happy?

Bob, there were no battles, just attatcs. Always coming from KLA to the Serbian police. They also killed Serbian civils. If you want names I can give you names. KLA is also attacking Albanians, those who don't want to join them. You were able to see it on CNN also. Men escaped so they didn't have to join. They are recruting all men older than 15 years. But since young men don't want to join them they don't have enough men to fight anymore they have now all escaped to Albania. Milosevic has no one to fight any more so he declared a seize fire.

The United States has not had capitalism since the very early part of this century when Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, etc. ruled the country.
We have a mixed economy that includes a lot of government regulation of business and intervention in the economy to keep it stable and help us avoid
disasters like the Great Depression and human rights violations like child labor. It was only through the protests and martyrdom of socialists, anarchists and communmists as well as more moderate labor activists and the efforts of two Roosevelt presidents with compassion for the common laborer that we have the kind of country we have today. But the gains made by these people are slowly being eroded as American companies move over-seas to take advantage of the workers in other countries.
I love America. But I wouldn't give the US armed forces all the credit for the freedom and prosperity we have enjoyed. First, you can be thankful that you just happen to be living in a land that is relatively young (stolen from the Native Americans), but at the rate that we have been using up its natural resources and polluting it I wonder how much longer the land will give us an advantage over countries in Europe and Asia. Second, you might give our Russian and Serbian Allies a little credit because without the blood they shed in World War II and the hell of a fight they put up, we might be part of the German empire. Third, you can thank the journalists, writers, organizers, protestors, Supreme Court Justices, and the founding fathers who were wise enough to give us a government with a system of checks and balances.
