Slobodan Milosevic, the Albanian rebels of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA)
have been admitted into the lucrative traffic of Turkish heroin moving through the
Balkan Peninsula to markets in Europe and the USA, the London Times has
revealed. While KLA leaders were shaking hands with US Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright at March's failed peace talks in France, Europol (the European
Union's new international narco force) was preparing a report for European
interior and justice ministers on new connections between the KLA and traditional
Albanian drug mafias. A recent intelligence report by Germany's federal
Bundeskriminalampt says: "Ethnic Albanians are now the most prominent group
in the distribution of heroin in Western consumer countries."

Albania has been a major transfer point for all manner of contraband since the
country's government collapsed into chaos two years ago, with local mafias seizing
regional power. Albania has now become a NATO protectorate, KLA ranks are
swelling with Albanian refugees purged from Kosovo by Milosevic's troops, and
US-led forces have been openly cooperating with the rebel army under the vigilant
eye of the erstwhile US Ambassador to Yugoslavia, William Walker--who was
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central America in the early 1980s, when
the US-sponsored Contra army there established permanent connections with the
Bolivian and Colombian cocaine cartels. The result that time was the crack
