After these wars ethnic groups hate each others more than ever. So let`s part them.
Each ethnic group wish ot join the fatherland. Kosovo serb to Serbia, Kosovo albanians to Albania...
It`s more about leting poeple choose in which country they want ot leave than distributing land.
I don`t think in 50 years Kosovo albanians will want to cesede from Albania if they join it today because they are albanians actualy.

Now what you see is a patchwork of micro republics and tiny pockets and special juridictions and so on. It makes no sens. It doesn`t bring safety to the region and requires constant watch from the UN.

Fred, I understand your point about the various ethnic groups not able to live with each other, but do you think putting a border between them will really make a difference.

If Nato hands over part of Kosovo to the Albanians, aren't they just creating a greater Albania with an increased sense of Nationalistic pride(always a bad omen, in my book). If the Kosovo Albanians join Albania, then other ethnic Albanians in surrounding areas will start to demand cessession from other states- you create another basis for conflict without solving the existing problem.

Another example I could cite is India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The Seperation of those countries created scenes not unlike Bosnia. Now the Islamic majority in Kasmir is seekeing independence.

In these situations there is really very little that Nato or the UN can do other than to hammer out some form of bilateral agreement between the Serbs and the Albanians. And without Russia's cooperation there is little hope of them succeeding.

My opinion anywho...
