Far be it from me to put words in Suleyman's mouth, but I think the point was, that as the US is very unlikely to suffer invasion, the question of whether they are ready is academic.
Russia's strength is born out of a need to survive.

I would say that the Brits, in a morbid way, have the Russians to thank for not being invaded. If Hitler hadn't been stopped in his tracks at Leningrad(?), he might have come back and finished the job. Napoleon made the same mistake I believe.
