Yes it's true they won elections.
I have no sympathy toward the actual Algerian governement. I took part one year ago in a demonstration at the Algerian ambassy to do something to stop the violence.
I don't remember France saying something like you said but there is certainely some influence.
They have theyr part of responsability.

Now let me tell you that I have even less sympathy for Islamists and extremist of all kind.
(ask a certain Baranov on this board if he's still there)

I don't understand why they are killing so many inocent villagers and I don't agree with the way of life they would like the all world to follow.

Nobody is perfect. Even me: I pretend to be an all out pacifist but I'm less reluctant to support military action against extremists, integrists, islamists.
That's why I'm on Russian side in this war of word of this chat board.

I think that there is no way to stop this war there. it's too late. No mattter will russian forces conquer the whole territory of Chechnya or not, the main thing is absolutley obvious - this will cause THE HATE which can last for centuries, and THIS HATE will be from the both sides from the chechens who lost almost the whole nation and independence and russian mothers who lost their sons, husbands in this war.
