Most American citizens are only thinking about what is happening in their own neighborhood. They(the citizens) are always telling the politicians to let the middle east and Russia take care of themselves. Of course the leaders can never listen to this because they have their eyes on what they tell us is going to be a "peaceful world" Most Americans are blind to the impact of Russian/Chech war. It is just some blurb on T.V. and then CNN will show us pictures of people suffering but I know that they are trying to control us thru the media...As it is written, the winner of the war is allowed to write the history books.... I question alot of the media, much more after I saw how the media swayed the public because of polls. It truely is a heard mentality here. I hope that it does not take China/Russia/India to wake us up....but it probably will.. I agree with ivana there are bandits here in great number as well. I just hope that we can elect a great leader for the next 4 years instead of this Clinton. Just seeing his face depresses me. I respect the high office of President of the United States and I would die for this man as a duty, but it is only because of the office he holds. Possibly the way the world relations are falling apart we will not make it to the next election.
Americans should listen to the Bible it says...a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth...maybe we all could learn about materialism...and we possibly will.

Does this mean no matter what the casualties are?

So this was an offensive to regain Chechnya rather than a counterterrorist campaign? What do you think? Does it really matter now anyways except for PR reasons?

No I don't think so, there were a few before our regualar elite forces invaded Chechnya but now may be thousands or hundreds of rebels ,including children and women, people had joined them after heavy shells of our military planes. You must know the tradition of Caucausas people - everybody must fight against the enemy.I know they will surrender, that is the tragedy , they will all die. I don't think that they even too much muslim, it's specific feature of this people ,they never surrender.

This policy of war in Chechnya is aimed to maintain other non-russian territiries of Russian Federation in horror .It must teach the other republics how to be too much independent. These are the main tasks of the fast victory in this war otherwise the results of loss can cause the further distruction of Russian Empire. The strongest is right this is the dirty rule of this reality, that is why the russian forces will never stop. And moreover that is the last chance for Eltsin'a government to stay in power for the nearest several month, becouse this war is being supported by the majority of population of Russia.

If they hide behind civilians don't you guys think it would be smart for the civilians to leave. Now in Kosovo the Albanians women were all saying their men were missing then at the end they all turned up alive . Rebels prevented buses to take civilians out
