Dimitri,
I must agree. Malkovich is insanely humorous. It's been awhile since I've seen such a highly imaginative film.

I must congratulate myself for keeping my faith in the communists. They received the highest percentage of votes beating unity. Gennady Zyuganov said that he merely just wants to restore the Soviet Union, but he did not mention communism. To me, i would rather have both. But if i was to choose i would restore Soviet Union too. Ura!!!!

Asgar Hussein, debate if you will, but do not mix up the republics of Russia, Tatarstan is still a republic of Russia as it was in Soviet Union, the only one i can think of that you probably ment to refer to was Turkmenistan?

Suleyman,

did you chat with Kim over the weekend? She doesn't seem to be present. Is she gone for good? I would hope it's not the case..

That's a shame. Arx provided some key insight on various issues. With her absence, we're likely to become overwhelmed with fanaticism. Only through rational thought and solidarity can we triumph.

I live in the USA but I am Russian and I'm asking you, guys: "Who gave you the rights to call Chechen peoples barbaric ones?"
My mother as a teenager have been evacuated to Chechnya during the W.W.II and lived there for couple of months. She still remembers it with the admiration. She said Chechens where the extremely kind people, willing to share everything they had with the newcomers, who were Russian refugees. They not only tried to feed them as good as possible - mother said she never ate such a good food back in Russia - but even collected money to organize the bus tour to Tbilisy, the capital of Georgia. Also they were very polite and everything was so clean around. But three days after Russians came it became impossible to use the common bathroom - so dirty it was. The small garden near by was covered with thrash. Women argued loudly all the time.
So - who are barbaric?
Beside - it's their choice to be independent.
Most of Russian immigrants in America look at this small and brave republic with the great sympathy and concern. We wish the US and Western Europe do something to stop the war.
Beside there is a big question, who is responsible for those people, died in Moscow and Grozniy explosions. Most of us thinking that it was Russian Conspiracy. Human's life in Russia cost nothing and always using for the political purposes. As for Russia - this country has no future. It kills it's youngsters in the countless local conflicts.
God bless Chechen people.

slushai,Kat'ka, govori za seb'a a ne za vsex imigrantov, ladno..
You seem to be a little(?) clueless, so look very carefully at what a lot of pro-Russian people on this board have to say- they say nothing against against chechen people (I've lived in North Caucasus for almost a year and I am very well aware of their hospitality and kind personalities) - they(myself included) are simply against the terrorists(the word comes from the word 'terror' - and that's what they specialize at). And, please, stop speaking for all Russian immigration in the US, that's a pretty BALD statement, ju nou..

P.S.Don't be ashamed to say that you are Russian Jewish immigrant,k?

Bones

I don't see nothging suspect in starting the military campain after the bomb attacks...No realy I don't see...

Asgar
Maybe to refer to last Igor's is not enogh but I agree that to read all the postings from even one week takes a lot of time.
I would add a 3th point:
3/ The lawlessness and the mafia activity in Chechenya and the failing of the Chechenyian Gvt. to stop it. (Igor posted some figers cut out a 12y old girl's hand, kidnaping, drug smuggling, ...)
I myself remember many cases of abduction of humanitarian workers in Chechenya and Nagornyi-Karabahk.
You know there are may example of such activities, gray economy...
Looks weird under the light of the events but Russia looks for stability in and aroud its borders.

R

You are interpretating the russian gvt. version and it's fine.
Personaly I think (because no side can be blindly believed) IF the rebels released these poeple it was to show the world how these gallant fighters are taking care of civilian and even of the disabled.

Even more! Why mentaly disabled or old poeple? Because they are unable to understand or explain the situation or give an opinion.
What do you think?
