King,

What a noble thought! Unfortunately all I can add is GOOD ••••••• LUCK!

I am as giddy as a little girl!
And I like to wear panties (that's why I'm giddy).

In the name of Allah, Most gracious, Most Merciful..................

Why is Russia attacking Chechnya ? because there are terroists over there. Why USA is seiging Afganistan ? because there are terrorists over there. Why did Slobodan Milosovich attack Kosovo ? because there are terrorists over there. Why did USA bomb Libya and Sudan ? because there are terroists over there ? Why USA and England are keeping bombing Iraq ? to prevent Iraq from producing chemical weapons as these weapons might go to the hands or terroists.

So, it is a war against terrorism. Now, let us be smart people, and find another word that equals terrorism. what is it ? Simply, it is Islam. Iraq, Sudan, Afganistan, Chechnya, Libya, Kosovo and Bosnia are all Islamic countries. So, it is a war against Islam. Tommorow, they will bomb Alegaria, Egypt, Indonesia and so on. Why ? because of terrorism.

Western world and weak Russia, you have the technology, you have the atomic bomb, you have the power and you have the justification to justify your sins and your dirty actions, but you do not have the belief. You do not have LA ELAH ELA ALLAH. Russia, we have taught you a good lesson in Afganistan, but it is clear that you have forgot it. No problem, we will explain the lesson to you again in Chechnya.
We hope this time that you understand it well. Muslims in Chechnya will defeat Russia, as they have defeated them in Afganistan. By god's leave, truth will win, and victory will be in the side of muslims.

Mohamed, Ottawa, Canada.

I do care about my Mercedes 600 🙂
On the more serious note, I do feel sorry for the civilians, but please explain to me, how can you not be able to leave city in 4 months? Seriously you ether have to be incredibly stupid or you mast be a rebel. People only complain here and saying that mast be something done. But I know my country and I know that Russia will not listen to anyone, the prove of that is just recent ultimatum to Grozny. From what I have heard they will use new type of bombs, they are not planning to attack Grozny but they will bomb the hell out of it.

According to the federal command center in the Northern Caucasus, on Saturday Russian strike aircraft flew 25 combat missions. Russian combat helicopters flew 40 missions during the same period of time. During the past day Russian military transport aviation conducted four flights and delivered 350 soldiers and police officers and 30 tons of cargo to Northern Caucasus. Russian military aviation concentrated on attacking rebel positions in Grozny and Urus Martan. According to preliminary information Russian planes destroyed 30 vehicles used by Chechen rebels to escape from Urus Martan to the southern regions of Chechnya. Russian strike aircraft also destroyed several bridges and roads in different district of Chechnya.

Russian military officials reported that up to 2500 Chechen extremists are concentrating in the south-east of the province. Military analysts believe that this may be a preparation for another invasion of Dagestan in an attempt to capture hostages and force Russian government to negotiate. A similar strategy was applied by Shamil Basayev during the 1994-1996 war, when he and his troops captured a maternity ward in the town of Budyonnovsk.

Today the commander of the federal group of forces in Chechnya, Col. Gen. Victor Kazancev, officially announced that Grozny has been completely encircled by the federal forces. Russian troops around Grozny are under the command of Maj. Gen. Shamanov and Lt. Gen. Bulgakov. Information about the complete blockade of Grozny was confirmed by Chechen officials and rebel leaders. Russian military command regards tight control of southern approaches to Grozny a priority: without constant and reliable connection with Urus Martan and other southern parts of Chechnya, rebel forces in Grozny will not be able to hold their positions for any considerable period of time. In the past few days Chechen rebels were attempting to leave Grozny in large numbers. They were doing so by hiding among civilians refuges, whom they prevented from living Grozny until now. According to unofficial Russian sources out of initial 8000 Chechen rebels in Grozny less than 3000 remain today. Naturally, during the upcoming week Russian combat aircraft will be concentrating on attacking main withdrawal routes of Chechen rebels as well as their positions in the south of the province.

Head of public relations department of the federal security bureau of the Russian Federation, Alexander Zdanovich, announced today that the information about Russian troops firing on Chechen refugees leaving Grozny is a deliberate misinformation spread by Chechen rebels. According to Russian intelligence services, Chechen bandits in Grozny prepared several military trucks with license plates belonging to the Interior Ministry of Russia. Chechen rebels intend to use these vehicles for conducting acts of terrorism against local civilians implicating Russian security forces. Head of the Russian federal Information Center, Mikhail Margelov, said that information about 200 Russian soldiers killed and 50 captured on December 3 by Chechen forces near Urus Martan is also deliberate misinformation. According to Margelov and Russian military sources, 200 losses were sustained by the Chechens themselves during combat operations near Urus Martan on that date. Russian forces had 8 casualties and 37 wounded as the result of combat operations near Urus Martan and Argun on December 3. During the continuing security sweep operation in Argun Russian forces exchanged fire with remaining Chechen rebels on several occasions. During Saturday night five Chechen rebels were shot by the Russian troops in Argun while trying to leave the city. According to preliminary information three out of five "Chechen" rebels were citizens of Uzbekistan. Also in Argun Russian troops found a small factory modified to manufacture hand weapons, including antitank rifles.

What I find especially interesting in various "news" stories about Russian troops allegedly firing on Chechen refugees published in a number of Western news media sources, is that, despite of tight information control established by the Russian military and modeled after media relations system employed by the U.S. forces during the operation Desert Storm, deliberate Chechen disinformation still quickly finds its way into headlines of such French news agencies as AFP and Reuters and from there - to other leading media sources. I find this suspicious especially because news reports by Russian military journalists dealing with major military operations in Chechnya take from one to several days to reach Russian and world media. While, at the same time, reports of alleged "refugee fire" incidents, that even if took place could have been witnessed by a handful of people at best, appear in French press in a matter of hours if not minutes. At the very least AFP and Reuters are paying suspiciously little attention to the credibility of their "Chechen" sources, but, most likely, misinformation published by these two news agencies is deliberate. Some Russian political analysts explain France's uncharacteristic hard-line anti-Russian position on the Chechen issue by the strong desire of the French government and certain business leaders to sideline Russia's political efforts and its oil interests in the resolution of the "Iraqi question." A number of Russian and French oil companies currently have highly-profitable contracts with the government of Iraq to develop Iraqi oil fields. These contracts cannot go forward until sanctions against Iraq are at least partially lifted. Both Russia and France anticipate significant changes in the sanction regime against Iraq and competition between Russian and French oil businesses is quickly heating up.

Here is an interesting article from a Russian "Century" magazine ("Vek", No. 47) about combat operations near Achkhoi-Martan. The article was written by Vladimir Terekhov - a Russian journalist who traveled recently to Chechnya. I decided to translate this article because it gives a good idea what the war in Chechnya looks like up close.

French orderly from Achkhoi-Martan

"A pair of assault helicopters approaches for a ground strike. Impressive rocket launch and a beautiful white house on the outskirts of the village is no more. Along with the house are gone two rebel machine-gun positions. The village is Alkhan Yurt, from here to Grozny just 10 kilometers. A major road comes through here connecting the town of Urus Martan with the mountainous districts of Chechnya. Rebels are fighting to death: a loss of control over this road would mean an almost inevitable loss of Grozny.

During the entire morning ground troops and armored combat vehicles were unsuccessfully trying to approach the village, and five times our soldiers were forced to withdraw under heavy fire coming from the house and a nearby forest. After a few more rocket barrages from the choppers fire coming from the village stops and our guys move ahead to take new positions.

This was a classic battle in this unconventional war. Troops are going ahead only after enemy fire is suppressed -- finally our generals learned to appreciate lives of individual soldiers. Soldiers and officers are remarkably calm, the feeling is as if they are not fighting a war but doing an everyday routine job.

One soldier, who came from Siberia to serve under a contract and who had experience from the first Chechen war, said that this time our guys are not afraid of fighting, officers are experienced and everything possible to limit the risk to their troops. An entirely different problem are snipers, who can reach you virtually anywhere.

There are losses. On the western front 15 people were lost on Friday, most of them came under fire from snipers operating from northern liberated and "secured" territories.

There is no doubt in the Army: the war machine of the Chechen rebels will be destroyed and it will be destroyed soon. However, there is little optimism in such announcements: professional soldiers understand that a long-term partisan war awaits them ahead.

I've seen special ops units in Asinovskaya, Sernovodsk, and Naurskaya -- they spend their days in reinforced field positions and in buildings turned into fortresses, and during nights they fire at every sound. Night attacks on our positions are continuing and with darkness all life stops: armored columns do not move, people do not walk the streets. There are very few people left here: Sernovodsk and Samashki look like ghost towns. You can drive through the entire village and see no more than 10 people.

Chechen civilians are wary of our troops, but they regularly approach military commandants with demands to restore gas, electricity, and to reopen schools. Local Russians don't ask for anything.

However, there are virtually no Russians left here. Many Cossack towns, like Asinovskaya, are now occupied almost exclusively by a few dozen elders -- quiet and half-insane from constant fear. Younger residents have left a long time ago, and those who stayed behind where taken by terrorists into the mountains to build reinforced positions. According to reconnaissance troops, just a few days ago 50 people, kidnapped by Chechen rebels and until now held in Urus Martan, have been also taken into the mountains.

Reconnaissance soldiers told many interesting stories. For example, it appears that there is a serious split between the bandits in Chechnya. Native Chechens understand that there is little they can do against the regular army. They want to preserve their homes by retreating into the mountains. Foreign mercenaries, on the other hand, want to continue with defensive operations: those of them who have been paid don't care what will happen with the villages. In general on the western front our troops are fighting mainly against foreign mercenaries -- Arabs and Ukrainians. Radio frequencies are filled with Arab speech. One soldier handling radio intercepts could swear that a few days ago he heard rebels speaking in French.

This war has its own mysteries. For example, a week ago Russian television showed a video clip from Achkkhoi-Martan. According to the news report local residents got rid of the fighters and put a Russian flag over the village. I don't know, maybe there is a Russian flag over Achkkhoi, I haven't been there -- the military didn't let me in. But I know that our forward units regularly come under fire coming from the village. Military command there is approached by civilians representatives from Achkkhoi-Martan almost every day. The village's elders come with white flags and beg Russian troops not to return fire, promising to deal with the remaining bandits themselves. They ask for gas, electricity, money to pay pensions.

Another strange thing: there is still was no official announcement about liberation of Bamut. In fact, this village was taken on November 19 during a ground operation that claimed lives of 23 Russian soldiers.

It is possible, however, that some of these strange aspects of the war are tactical ploys on the part of the Russian military. Current situation of the Russian army in Chechnya is not simple: despite of achieving considerable success in the Chechen operation, Russian troops potentially expose themselves to attacks from behind. This threat increases as Russian troops move deeper inside Chechnya.

Special ops soldiers, who are responsible for security sweep operations, said that more Chechen men are returning into the villages. All of them have suspiciously clean Russian passports and hands of anyone but village workers.

Most important, however, is that Chechen fighters are able to gain access to the refugee camps without much difficulty. Commandant of the "Caucasus-1" control center Col. Anatoly Khrulev said, that every morning while searching the nearby woods his troops would discover discarded ID cards belonging to members of various illegal security organizations of Chechnya, weapons, and anti-Russian literature. Former owners of these items are able to cross the Chechen border using their real Russian passports and stay in Ingushetia.

Commandant of "Caucasus-1" also said that his troops regularly intercept radio communications originating from refugee camps. When a Russian armored column was passing nearby a few days ago, not one but four radio stations were detected operating from the "Satellite" refugee camp near the town of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, Ingushetia.

Concern over the security of rear positions of Russian troops in Chechnya was voiced by many officers in private conversations. At the same time they are convinced that the Army will finish the job it started, that is if nobody (politicians) interferes. Many Russian soldiers want to continue to serve after their term expires. One Russian soldier, a musician from Siberia, said: "Where am I going to go if the guys are going to stay behind? We will stay to flight for as long as needed. We got used to it."

I like it how the American media portrays events and reports. When other countries bomb civilians, they call it "barbarian massacre" and a violation of the Geneva Conventions (and also colateral damage), but when NATO bombs Serb civilians, it is called "innocent victimization", and not even colateral damage! I just laugh at all you hypocrit Americans, how can you all be so stupid to buy such propaganda?
Many Americans even lack the truth of what happened in Panama in 1989 because the media portrayed it as a Mardi Grad celebration when the White Middle-Class Panamanians greeted American troops (however, the media didn't show the poor communities that were bombed and shelled by US troops, and the more than 4,000 lower class civilians and children massacred in those 3 days, and the mass graves that have just been cited near US military bases in Panama). Not to mention, Ford and the new administration that was set up in Panama was more linked to Drugs than Noriega itself. The drug problem in Panama actually almost trippled after Noriega was removed.

Let see, if I’m a garbage men then I have to be rich one. Considering the fact that I did not receive money 5-6 months (according to you) I still manage to pay for Internet.
You want to start trashing again? I have no problem starting that. Before you answer, how about you mind your own business and I mind my own. If that is not good enough for you then let the war begin. I will trash every thing that has to do with you.

Each society in history has had high institutions of knowledge that endow them with learning, education and knowledge itself. However, I find it really disturbing to believe that the people of the United States (the country with the most advanced economy in the world, arguably a good quality military, however with a laughable administration and concept of foreign policy and international law) receive all of their information and place all of their trust on their corporate and 100% biased and arrogant media. They call it a free media, but fail to realize that it is a corporate media with corporate interests (which are the same interests that drive the politics of the US government, via PACs and Interest Groups). In other words, the American Media and the US Government are connected in due to the similar interests that drive them, Corporate interests. The individuals that themselves work in the Media are themselves poor and totally lack charisma. How can 270 million Americans totally place their trust of information and knowledge on a corporate self-interested profit institution. Its hard to believe that in the US, the Media is the highest source of knowledge for most Americans, since they are all so dumb to believe anything the Media says.

Ali Baba,

I believe you better wake up for a second. Muslim Lords in Spain. My family is of Spanish decent and I can tell you for a fact that There have been no Muslims or Jews in Spain since 1608 when the last Moor was kicked out of Spain. The inquisition and our Reconquista smashed the Arab presence from Spain for once and for all. Where was that little Arab kingdom, huh? The little Caliphate of Córdoba? hahahaha, our great warriors like El Cid smashed your little armies and you always sued for peace, even when you were pushed back into Grenada. The only Iberian country that has a Jewish and Arab minority are the Portuguese, but even they can be crushed easily (the poorest country in Western Europe)

Although it may not seem as civilized in today's society, it sure can solve problems for good. The Christian-Muslim problems that existed in Spain after the reunification of Aragon and Castille (officialy in 1493 after the Arab Kingdom of Grenada was wiped out) were solve for once and for all through the inquisition. It was highly effective. What if these methods were to be implemented in Yugoslavia? If history serves me right, these old methods have yielded no Christian-Muslim tensions in Spain (simply because there have been no Muslims in Spain since 1608, when the last Moor was expelled). I think this method would be more effective since it is something that worked and solved the problem for good, unlike the Kosovar problem which is failing because Western idiots believe Diplomacy as a solution. Diplomacy has always failed throughout history, its only a matter of time. In fact, Diplomacy is "The Science of Crisis"
