I am in 100% agreement with you in relation to your particular illustration of America. The media is an unregulated arena. It's awful because laypeople don't have the time to check various news sources to make sure they're accurate. It's ridiculous. However, with such a strong economic base, America has given its soul to the influence of money within politics. If you really analyze the media, the entire phenomenon points back into the direction of its origin. What is this fertile ground for which the "modern" media was sown? One word: Money. The media is the channel, while politics and corporate interests are the source. Money serves to facilitate this interaction.

By your last message, you must have some geography lessons.

First of all, I know of very few illegal South Americans smuggling into the US. You must be referring to Central Americans or Mexicans (Mexico is part of North America by the way). So you must be referring to illegal North Americans especially, because the highest illegal group of Latin Americans in your country comes from Mexico.

South America, however is different. With the minor exception of probably Colombia, there are virtually almost no illegal South Americans in the US. I doubt there are illegal Uruguayans in the US (by the way, I am Uruguayan). Uruguay is so small, with only 3 million people, and we have the third highest standard of living in the Western Hemisphere (US is first, then Canada, then Uruguay). Our standards of living are comparable to Western Europe. Tell me if you find an illegal Argentine, Uruguayan or Chilean immigrant in the United States, it would really surprise me (simply because of the distance it takes to reach the US border). Study geography first before making ridiculous accusations.

It's hilarious how many Americans have a heavily negative attitude towards Latin Americans (and lack a total knowledge of Latin Americans at the same time!). First of all, more than a third of US territory is Latinized, mainly settled by Spanish and under Mexican rule for a lot longer than under US rule (the Spaniards influenced much of the Western portion of the US for 3 centuries, while the US hasn't even been in the western portion for 2 centuries). Much of the American cuisine (which barely exists for itself) is influenced by Latin food (mainly Mexican) and much of your Cattle ranches are influenced by Spanish culture (not to mention that almost all of your cities and states in the western section of the US are Spanish. I bet you that any American can't even name one thing about Argentines, Uruguayans and Brazilians, because their hatred is aimed only at mexicans and central americans.

By the way, out of all the American girls I've met, they have told me that Latin guys like me are a lot better than American guys, who are a bunch of arrogant drunkards who like to beat each other up in frat parties and look cool.
