Reporters do what they have to do - they report. Needless to say that the reporter who wrote about, for instance, Grozny destruction, did not do it himself nor condones it. Don't blame a messenger.

Having pictures of executions is not reporting it is participation.Big difference, these are prisoners and hostages that are executed.

I did not miss. Actually, I've just pointed out that such a question "one would ask" is merely a suggestion that a reporter is responsible for the reality he reports. Such position is not uncommon, problem is, however, that such position is against the law.

About 15 years ago, there was a discussion during a TV show. Mike Wallace was proposed a hypothetical question what he would do if he is reporting behind the front lines and the soldiers of his own country are about to get ambushed. He would report.
Emotionally I disagree with it, but that's precisely what he must do.
Just like priests can not report confessions to the police even if they want it very much.

Are you saying that you are more Russian than Babitski. Why do you think that he is a traitor? Do you believe that every Russian should think in the same way, and act in the same way? Just asking.

Military analysts are quick to point out that Putin's claim Sunday of victory in Grozny is largely meaningless, because the rebel force remains intact and will regroup to fight another day.
"It is nothing but a virtual victory, the declaration of which was needed by the Kremlin to score decisive points in Putin's presidential campaign," said retired Col. Alexander I. Zhilin, a military analyst with the weekly Moskovskiye Novosti. "They are trying hard to drive it into the subconscious of the people that a great victory has been achieved with comparatively small federal losses. But it is all a lie."

"""During the withdrawal of the Mujahideen from Grozny, and their subsequent moves towards the south of the country, 60 Mujahideen were killed, and 70 others were injured. May Allah accept the dead as Martyrs, and may He hasten the recovery of the wounded. http://www.qoqaz.net/ """

Just a minute! Aren't Russians claiming a great victory with up to 3,000 fighters killed?

""" Zhilin disputed claims by Russian commanders that federal forces had killed 1,500 rebels as the guerrillas retreated from Grozny, including many in minefields.

"I am a military man, and I can tell you that to get 1,500 men blown up in a minefield, you need to make them not just run or walk through the minefield but to deliberately search for mines to blow themselves to pieces," he said. "Since the federal authorities haven't shown pictures of more than 20 bodies yet, we can say with all confidence that the rebels escaped and are now spread all over the hills, lying in ambush once again." """

A great victory, up to 3000 dead, rebel army crushed, what a BS.

I think Putin's victory declaration is premature. Lets wait and see.

URL,

Tell me if people are still upbeat about the prospects of a Chechnya victory in Moscow. Do you have any links with Moscow? Friends, relatives? Are people paying attention to what's going on in Chechya, or just getting on with their daily strugles?
