The TOS-1 missile contains 30 aerosol warheads. It is designed to kill people hiding in underground bunkers.

Each warhead releases clouds of inflammable gas into the air.

The gas seeps into the ground, beneath a building or a bunker, and ignites, creating a huge fireball, massive shock waves and a large vacuum.

How else can you get rat to come out of basement.I would have used them a long time ago.Napalm=smells like VICTORY

Civilians cower in ruins of Grozny

Grozny residents who were too old or too weak to flee the fighting still are there -- hiding in basements.

"I'm the oldest here and I'm a burden to the others. My son was killed and the only reason I stayed was to bury him," said one elderly woman.

Hospitals in the neighboring republic of Ingushetia say there has been a renewed flow of injured civilians arriving from the war zone.

"The people who brought in these two little girls said a mortar shell had exploded near them," said a medic of two sisters who were barely alive. "Their parents, their mother and father, were killed, as well as their little brother."

The war has driven an estimated 250,000 civilians out of Chechnya. Western countries and human rights groups accuse Moscow of using excessive and indiscriminate force in the region.

There are still many civilians hiding in the basements of Grozny

Report: Chechen civilians deliberately killed

The New York Times quoted the Moscow office of Human Rights Watch on Sunday as saying it had documented 22 cases in which Russian troops had allegedly killed Chechen civilians either to avenge losses in fighting with rebels or to loot Chechen property.

There was no immediate comment from Moscow. Coverage of the war has been impeded by the Russian military.

European Union Development Commissioner Poul Nielson flew to the North Caucasus region on Sunday to check on efforts to help the refugees.

Russia's top representative in Chechnya, Nikolai Koshman, told ITAR-Tass it will take a long time to rebuild Grozny and that the second-biggest city in the region, Gudermes, may function as a makeshift capital in the interim.

"Today there is no money (for reconstruction)," ITAR-Tass quoted him as saying. "First we must study the scale of the destruction and then we can speak about the future of the Chechen capital."

In other developments, news agency RIA reported that Russian forces in Chechnya have captured a rebel leader accused of leading a gang of kidnappers. Kidnapping people for ransom was a lucrative pastime for criminal bands in Chechnya before the war.

ABD'ulmuslimov
"Russian troops had reportedly burnt inhabitants' houses, insisting that Chechen rebels who had fled from Grozny this week were being sheltered inside.

Furious townspeople began shooting at the soldiers, killing several of them, before destroying a tank and an armored car. "

You know ABD it's not the poor man defending his farm with his 6shots desperatly...

If some "peaceful" civilians owns fire weapons ,in enough quantity to defy a squad in this case, and even with the possibility to destroy armored vehicle and tanks...
There is no doubt they are supplied by rebels or at least a powerful armed mafia.
Just knowing that this could happend is enough to understand the nervousity of the russians.
After all if civilian owns firearms, I suppose they don't have all theyr license in order, so they are outlaws.
I suppose in wartime the police would find suspect poeple carrying weapons illegaly...

I will answer to other messages but actualy my connection is very shity

To AMR:

First of all, English is not my first language. My original language is Russian. That's why I really don't care about the improvement of my English skills. Second, it seems to me that you are very uneducated economist. Where did you find this information about GDP and GNP. If you've been ridden this stuff from your local English newspaper then you are absolutely wrong. Don't try to make a smart ass of yourself. Third, I am a veteran of first Chechen War. I know who these Chechens are. The only thing to solve this conflict is to kill'em all once and for all. We will do it further. You'll see. I am very serious about this. You can tell the war not over, Chechens are regrouping, they paid money to escape, you can also post the pictures of poor Russian soldier who doesn't really want to fight. The only thing he wants to do is relax with his gerlfriend. However, because of these terrorists he has to be there to drug the mines. He is 18 years old. I wish these guys were somewhere else but not only in Chechnya. But these kids will definately kick Chechens' asses. This time is for real. Russians decided to solve this problem.

P.S. It's about the posting pictures. This man that you called clown has a real proof on his head. Everybody knows the passion of Chechens to this kind of hat or cap, whatever you want to call it. This hat was wearing by one of the Chechens commanders- they love this stuff.

"brave" russians killing women???

My neighbour and I were clutching each other's hands," she said. The third woman said 'take whatever you want, we have children, just don't kill us.' They made us go into one little room.

"They just shot her in the head. She didn't even have time to say let me go - they just shot her ..."

One family said they had lost a mother and son killed together.

They produced bloodstained clothing full of holes which they said were evidence that a knife had been used.

These are allegations, but the Human Rights Watch organisation says it has more than a dozen similar accounts from people in this part of Grozny.

konichiwa, k-san.

this must be the most death-filled page of the week.
innocent civilians; the elderly and children/ BANG!! YOU'RE DEAD!!
teenaged i-wish-i-was-back-home-with-mama soldiers/ BANG!! YOU'RE DEAD!!
so-called holy warriors believing they'll be rewarded in the event of/ BANG!! YOU'RE DEAD!!

and here in our neighborhood, we seethe over a woman wearing a (expletive) scarf on her head.
and we slog and slash through ancient, useless religious precepts and sinister conspiracies of secret societies.
and some revel in scatology and crude porno imagery.

and far away from where we sit, people kill and die, die and kill (as if it's only in chechnya).

and i cant believe much of anyone's news reportage;
i'm inclined to believe they all lie, they all suck. just like politicians.
and after hanging around here and DMS yugo
it appeared i didnt know the half of how much lying goes on.

and far away from where we sit, people kill and die, die and kill. (as if it's only in chechnya).

welcome to the 21st century.
what did you expect?
