Dimitri,

I thought it was "several toes" THEN the "foot".

Hell, either way the boy is missing something he was born with. LOL

Bones. Interrestin article, I read over the weekend that thru the draft Russia replaces 25% of its troops every year or was it every six months. I understand Russia conducts its draft twice a year.

Basayev is alive and that is all what matters to me. The loss of a foot doesn't mean much since he doesn't partake in the battle. All the Chechens need from him is some strategies and intelligence.

Journalists in Alkhan-Kala reported that scores of Chechen wounded were given rudimentary first aid at a local hospital while their comrades regrouped to the south of the village. Then a
force of around 200 fighters came down from the mountains to cover the rebel retreat. An extraordinary feat when one considers that Alkhan-Kala was supposedly under federal control at the time.

Could somebody please explain to me how the head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) knows the reporter "IS" alive but can't say where he is. Am I missing something in the translation? If you don't know where somebody is, then HOW can you say he's alive? Hmmm....

"Meanwhile, the head of Russian secret services announced that a Radio Free Europe correspondent handed over to Chechen rebels in exchange for two Russian soldiers was alive, but his whereabouts were unknown.

Andrei "Babitsky is alive, but I do not know where he is. You should ask someone else about that," Nikolai Patrushev, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), was quoted as saying by Interfax."
