Unfortunately I can not judge what is in the best interests of Russia and what isn't. Strictly speaking, I doubt that anyone has that kind of knowledge. Even regarding their own interests.
I do think, however, that Mr.Putin, for instance, was fulfilling his duties back then and he is doing the same now. Has nothing to do with an ideology. And never should not, for that matter.

You seem so consumed with anger and hate for such a learnied person.
You can speak your mind at anytime and anyplace in the world. Yes the penelty can be different in different places, still it can be done.
Many people were percecuted for their belief long before our time and still belived and taught that belief.
Jesus Christ can save and help anyone, all he ask is belive, have faith.
I understand this is very hard, I feel you are having trouble with it.
I will Pray for you and ask all that will, do the same.
As far as being a wimp and hiding behind anything this is very far from the truth.
But this is your opinion and I respect that.
Also because people feel differently from you or have a different set of values does not make them evil as you put it.
