Balalaika's reminder to all RUSSIAN fans:

According to Russian officials, Grozny was supposed to have fallen before today. On Tuesday, when Russian forces broke through to central neighborhoods, officials said they needed only three or four days to clear out the rebels.

Fresh news how russians continue to suck in Chechnya...

Kavkaz-Tsentr reports:

The Chechens today, 16.00 p.m., shot down a Russian JET (another Suhoi?!!) using a "stinger".
It is unknown if the pilot survived – probably not because the plane exploded in the air after having been hit by the rocket.

Russian troop morale has been dropping as what was expected to be a quick push into Grozny stalls.

A top interior ministry officer in Moscow on Sunday admonished the command for disregarding the needs of the Russian soldiers, who according to some reports are low on fuel and clothes.

"Many units which I know in the defense and interior forces are exhausted," the top Moscow region interior ministry commander, Arkady Baskayev, told Echo Moscow radio.

"They must be supported by new forces, by new equipment, by new arms," ghe said, adding that "there were practically no replacements" for the warring troops since the ground campaign opened on October 1.

P.S. if they want food and ammunition, it would be better to cross the front-lines, and find them anong chechen fighters (plus high fighting spirit).

"""When the Russian Empire collapsed and Lenin seized power Finnish parliament declared Finland an independent state (December 6, 1917). Finland turned to Western countries for recognition but they were reluctant to recognise Finland before the Soviet-Russia."""

If there were Internet Message Boards at that time, perhaps someone would see the following questions for discussion:

Q.If Finland was able to establish their independence, would they as an autonomous nation be able to survive in the current economic world?

Q.What is your opinion of the situation in Finland? What should the international community's role be?

It sounds absurd, isn't it? If Chechnya finaly breaks from Russia's hegemony, maybe this board's questions will sound as absurd in ten years time.

I am sure even our Russian friends won't be dreaming a Russian invasion of Finland today.

This is reminiscent of the birth of Amerika, disorganized European settlers against a vastly overwhelming English army....see what happened?

Right and at that time did not the english consider them bandits, terrorists?
therefore america was built from terrorism.
same with israel they rebelled against the brits.
were they not terrorists?

And stupid russian generals inclearingly appear to draw their "plan" from the disastrous russian war in chechnya in 1994-1996. at least now the dead-count is quickly catching up!

If you hear the story below:

>>> A Russian commander said on Saturday that
Chechen President Aslan Maskhadov had been wounded in fighting in the southern mountains, but there was no way to independently verify >>> the claim. Commander Viktor Kazantsev told Russia's NTW television that Maskhadov had been wounded in Argun Gorge. There was no immediate response from the Chechen command. >>>>>>

DO NOT believe it even a second. Reuters just released interview with Mashadov's wife, who said that she had talked with Mashadov by phone, and HE IS HEALHY. Russians simply concocted another LIE to distract public opinion from the capture/death of their own general.

The Russian military has at last admitted the rebels had probably killed Major-General Mikhail Malofeyev, who went missing in Grozny last week.

Malofeyev's unit is believed to have been lured deep into the inner Zavodskoi area and was then outflanked by fighters dashing through a maze of Soviet-era sewers
The tactics are beginning to break Russian morale. "I'm losing it," said Zhenia, a 29-year-old sniper from the Siberian city of Kuzbass. "I was told I would serve in Chechnya for three months. I have been here for five and have no idea when I'll go back.

"My health is shot. I'm losing my eyesight. I have hallucinations when I look through the sight of my rifle, so I rub an onion into my eyes to cleanse them with tears.

"I'll tell you how this war will end for me. I'll either get killed or I'll go mad."
