Jamman you do not know what you are talking about .Get informed before you blurt out such nonsense.Why does Russia need mediators for it's own country. Where was the mediation in KOSOVO.Secondly,Chechnya is not a country.

Really, it would be nice for us Russians to obtain peace in Chechnya by negotiations. Problem is that there is nobody on Chechen side that can enforce fulfillment of any treaty. President Maskhadov is puppet in Basayev's hands, and Basayev has violated the Khasavyurt treaty by invading Dagestan and so cannot be a side in talks. There is a muftiyyat (Religious leadership) in Chechnya - and it's already on Russian side, together with it's warlord Yamadayev. The Sunni muftiyyat of course is an enemy of Wahhabi Islam of Basayev and Khattab: there is no place for sunni muftiyyat in wahhabism.

Turk if I was running the war in Chechnya I would bomb the bastards into the Stone Age.Then I would start with all the countries that support terrorism Afghanistan,Iran ,Pakistan,Turkey, and if they continue training terrorists they would get the same. Israel and U.S. does not negotiate with terrorists; THEY BOMB THEM!!!!!!!

Igor . I agree negotiations , I think really won't get far considering Russia is dealing with different groups of gangs or clans. Chechnya really doesn't have a strong central government to negotiate with. Yes it has leaders but how much power to they really hold over Chechnya?

TO Igor: Let me rephrase that. Checheya should have been a country. I also think that russia will fall because how long can people be held down lied to assinated. Live in the conditions of dictators.
Russia says that they are democratic I see no reason to believe this. I think if it were a democratic society then there would be free speech and the public would fiercly denounce them going over to spend what little money that they have borrowed and kill there kin! second most as far as the mediators are concerned it would benifit the russian people more if there was some kind mediators between them because the russian so called government doen't think about the people it only cares for themselves. How's that igor?

Chechnya had non Chechen population that were driven out just like Serbs and non-Bosnians in Bosnia, and Serbs in Kosovo were systematically driven out.

"""By Kissie ( - 192.114.47.50) on Tuesday, January 25, 2000 - 01:21 pm:
Why do you think that all those Eastern European countries couldn't get away from Russia fast enough? Because Russia "as it is" is not a civilised country. It is an evil empire. Only brings pain & suffering to population, including Russians.
Chechens wants to have their freedom in their own country. Doesn't matter if they are Muslim or not, they are waging an indepence war against aggression, therefore they deserve to be supported.
* Turkish pot calling kettle ... """

Thanks Kissie for supporting what I said, although, probably you were trying to refute. If you are talking about Ottoman Empire, it is good riddance. I am glad that it was dissolved, and all those nations were freed.

Down with the empires, including the evil Russian Empire.
