Do you think that there would be a NOKIA if Russians succeded in keeping Finland in fold?
* Yeah, since 96 Maschadow was noticed creating a Nokia, and even enlisted survices of a foreign "communications engineer" Khattab.

Good post.
Ask me about ancestral hatred. Being a Turk, I am made to feel that there are still a few Armenians like "Antonia" who would drink my bload with pleasure. Very scary!

"""...For example, when USA was founded, why noone gave a consideration that the land rather belongs to indians? Was there a "state of a country" before europeans started settling there? ..."""
Could it be that civilization was at a much different (primitive) stage? Surely there was not many human rights movements at that time! Even slavery was introduced at a slightly later stage. Do you think that just as we can not imagine someone being a slave today, civilized Western countries (of today's) could slaughter millions of indians to invade their country.
I don't know much about USA and the indians, but in Canada, many steps are taken to address the historical wrongdoings, and not many Canadians are proud with what their ancestors did to indians.
I think there is no rights or wrongs in an absolute sense. Depending on each person's development (we all go through stages!), something right one person, might be wrong for others. As an example I used to object "Heroin trials", but now, I think it is a good idea to help the addicts.
I can see that most Russians don't care if Chechen civilians are get killed (they don't even care about Russians who got caught in Grozny), but I think future generations will care.
For me what Russia is doing is absolutely wrong. On the other hand I can see it is very difficult for Russians to admit what their army doing is a crime against humanity.
Just like I admire the Germans who stood up against Hitler and Nazism, I admire the Russians who can critise their government and army for any wrongdoings.

Kissie, I can see that you are still the same. Nothing much to say! But again it must be to difficult for you to improve (at any rate).
You are very slimey. A dark character. So you are not Russian (or maybe you are), a woman (maybe not), you are old (maybe too young), list goes on. Do you know what you are standing for (Don't worry, I am not hoping for a clear answer)?

"""Btw, as a person od turkish descend, imagine a hypothetial situation, that suddenly there are people from the ancient country Urartu (which as you might know existed in early centuries on the territory of Turkey and was very sophisticated before being killed off by assirians). Imagine that people now demand a re-creation of their ancient country on Turkey territory. You thoughts about it? """
Fenriz, as you said, this is a hypothetical question. To start with I am not sure what's the meaning of being Turk. Anatolia has been a melting pot of so many civilizations and great nations. Don't believe that when one civilization was taken over by the next, all the members of the previous civilization had been killed. They were simply assimilated (at least bulk of them). As you know nationalism was not a potent force before the 18th century. So people just mixed with each other, just like today's Western world. So I would say descendant of Urartu must be calling themselves Turk today. This is no different than people living in USA calling themselves American. Today most of them can trace their ancestry, but in 5000 years from now, particularly if writing wasn't invented, would they be able to?
In short, as the world is becoming a global village, it is pointless to argue about land being belong to a particular etnic group. Except the poor and uneducated of this world, people can go and live anywhere they like.
What this got to do with Russia?
Russian response to the "so called" terrorism, and handling of the war is disproportinate, it's like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. On the other hand Americans, americanised the world without actually fighting a war over it. Do you see the difference?
"""Opposition among ordinary Russians to the Chechen war is stiffening, as fierce fighting continues in the centre of Grozny.
A poll shows that 56% of Russians hope that the country's next president will stop the war in Chechnya. """

FEDERAL HELI COMMANDER KILLED IN CHECHNYA
MOZDOK, January 31 - Two federal MI-8 helicopters came under fire in Chechnya on Saturday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency. Both aircraft suffered heavy damages, the spokesman said. The commander of one of the helicopters, Colonel Nikolai Maidanov, Hero of the Soviet Union, was killed. The helicopters were on reconnaissance mission near the Argun gorge, when they spotted a rebel motorcade of about 40 vehicles. The aircraft positioned a group of MI-24 combat helicopters and SU-25 attack planes over the targets and continued the reconnaissance. They were approaching the Shatoi village when rebels opened small-arms fire against them. A bullet broke through the cockpit window and fatally wounded Maidanov. However the second pilot took over control and managed to land the aircraft. The crew of the second helicopter was not affected. According to the data obtained by the Agency, Colonel Maidanov commanded a helicopter regiment operating in the combat area.. Maidanov's body has been transported to the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. According to several reports, he will be buried in St. Petersburg.
Despite all promises to take over Chechnya before Y2000, Russian army is still bogged down in combat.
100,000 russian soldiers (with jet planes, tanks, helicopters, etc) - against (maximum) 10,000 Chechen fighters, who do not have all those jet planes, tanks, helicopters, etc.
Conclusion---> 1 Chechen fighter is much better than 10 russian soldiers.
Russian Army - puk puk puk, wash your ass.....

OOPS, RUSSIAN AIR FORCE LOSES THREE PLANES DUE TO PRIVATE'S NEGLIGENCE
MOSCOW, January 31 - Russian military prosecutors have started legal action against Private Sergei Safronov, who caused a fire at the Akhtubinsk airfield in the southern Russian Astrakhan region, a spokesman for the Air Force Staff said on Monday.
The fire broke out at 23.55 Moscow time (2055 GMT) on Friday, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Safronov's TM-59MG heat engine was clearing the airfield's landing strip from ice when it crashed into a SU-24M frontline bomber. As a result, the plane's fuel tank was punctured and the aircraft caught fire. The flames soon reached two nearby bombers which also burned down.
P.S.
IMHO, Chechens should make the Russian dude "The Hero of Chechen Rebublic"
P.S.S. According to other sources, the bombers were preparing to fly to Chechnya, btw...
