Short of supplies is a given. What makes me laugh is that those villages obviously didn't have any Russian forces because otherwise bandits wouldn't be able to take them, or at least as easily as they claim. Since there were not troops, there was no ammunition there. As for food, I bet there wasn't much of it, only what they were able to take away from the civilians. As for moral, it's not as much as to lower Russian, as to raise their own. But I think the real reason they did that is to spread propaganda. I am sure we'll reading more of retaking of villages by Chechen forces, villages without any Russian forces to begin with though. Not hard to retake those, even though civilians will stand up against them.

1) The posted picture is of "Christian Cemetery"
2) Albanians are muslim, and bury their dead in different way, not under the cross, and definitely not on the Christian cemetery.
3) The woman is dressed in the Serbian mourning dress.
And the last - The way Ultra Russian Nationalist posted picture of mourning old Serbian lady, claiming that she is Albanian is very similar to methods employed by Moscow in current unti-Chechen propaganda.
