A close associate of Maskhadov, his aide for financial issues Umar Pashayev, was killed in a police operation in the hamlet of Oktyabrskoye of Chechnya's Kurchaloi district on Sunday.


As Russian Interior Ministry spokesmen reported to RIA Novosti today, officers of the interim Interior Ministry department, operative officers from the Belgorod and Yaroslavl regions, were informed that one of Maskhadov's close associates had surfaced in the district.
