Hi L'menexe
Ready for the roast beast?
Kim
Vladimir Putin confirmed today that authorities are ready to negotiate a political settlement in Chechnya with people who really want this.
But before talking political settlement, it is necessary to solve questions of a criminal character, the Acting President said in an interview with journalists in Stellar Town.
He said that Maskhadov is either in complicity with the bandits who take hostages with the aim of receiving ransoms, or "directly guides their actions". According to Putin, the Russian leadership knows that in telephone conversations with some European leaders Maskhadov said that he is "ready to give up foreign hostages" - two Polish women and one Frenchman.
The head of state emphasised that such conversations had been held repeatedly.
As the Acting President said, there are all grounds for meeting Maskhadov in the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia, where he has been summoned for questioning and not on the air waves.
SALO why don't you try some of that nice British beef
The US was kicked over Alla Geifman visa case.
Dear Kim,
very good thought - I betcha they're might be having a tee somewhere in Kabul, but their bravesouls'n'hearts are with their soldiers..
This is for all the BSniks who scream that converting into Islam saves lives...
ITAR-TASS photo correspondent Vladimir Yatsina, who had been a Chechen hostage since July, was shot in captivity. This was revealed by a recently liberated hostage, Kazakhstan citizen Alisher Orazaliyev, who had witnessed the murder. Orazaliyev had been taken hostage also in July of 1999 when he had come to Chechnya to see his friends. At a press-conference in Moscow, Orazaliyev said he had met Yatsina in captivity.
Orazaliyev said that Yatsina had been suffering severe pains in his legs and could not move fast. He was killed by the rebels when they were fleeing from the forest to Shatoi. Even adopting Islam had not saved Yatsina.
The rebels were keeping hostages in order to extort money, RIA "Novosti" reports quoting Orazaliyev. But only one businessman was ransomed from Orazaliyev's group.
"eye for an eye", ehh?
Kim, Kissie,

The Reconstruction of Chechnya is a Russian Issue. Grozny itself must be a problem due to the sheer extent of damage caused there. Russia destroyed it and Russia should also rebuild it. Aid from the European Council should not be considered especially after the repeated attempts to allow for some type of mediated peace or truce. Russia told the world at that point this is a Russian Issue stay out of our affairs. Adding to the poverty of yet another Russian province, maybe then they will consider some other types of solutions before they send in the troops.
Dimitry, apologies - my fault - didn't explain it and left.
Alla Geifman, 13, daughter of a Saratow businessman, was kept hostage and recently freed due raid of police "spetznaz". "Freedom lovers" demanded $5 mln. for her. She lost two fingers on her left hand. The Continent publishing house invited her to the US, all's all right with paperwork, but the Moscow Consulate didn't issue her an entry visa. Main TV channels slapped US by asking how come that, Chechen phony govt. "leaders" can obtain entry visas, and Alla can't.
Lobo,
I certainly hope that you forwarded the copy of your post to a European Council..because otherwise you'd be waisting your emotions by not ACTUALLY doing anything about it, right big guy?
thank you K-san..what can I say, when it comes to a certain govt. - ALWAYS expect the...expected.
