John

"The Russian Generals, who were claiming victory a few days ago,"
A few days ago a military spokesman (Troshef?) said on NTV that even with the fall of the last rebel stronghold, the war will continue. The russians have always claimed that the real war just began after the fall of Grozny and was going for a long haul.

So, I don't know what you are talking about...

"...the last (extermination of chechen) when Stalin had tens of thousands of Chechen shot and the remainder of the Chechen people deported to Siberian concentration camps. "

Exact but it was the deed of the Soviets.
Stalin and the bolsheviks killed hundreds of thousand not only Chechens but also ukrainians, polish, jews, lithuanians, estonians... and ...hundreds of thousand of RUSSIANS!

Stalin deported a lot of RUSSIANS to Siberian concentration camps.
So nowadays chechens and russians, in memory of theyr painfull common past are to unite in solidarity and freindship.

"Today the Chechen units are battling ferociously, under intense shelling and 2,000lb bombs with no regard to civilian lives,"

I agree with you, Chechen units are battling with no regard to civilian live. Exact.

"to defend the strategic Argun and Vedeno gorges."

...and the interest in oil industry of Sheik Abdumbassul Fat and the harem of the impotent Imam Ayashola Ashola and the Swiss bank account of Ruslan Abduleev Muslimov and (of course) JIHAD THE CROOK.

Hatred breeds hatred. Should we hate of all Russian soldiers for the crime of a few. After all most solders are in Chechnya since they could not find a way out. They are pawns in Putin's war. Unfortunately as long as they are in Chechnya, they are fair targets for freedom fighters, who are determined to liberate their country of invaders.

Dimitri,

The biggest contradiction is your sad ass.

I only hate your kind of people, who always try to deceive and manipulate others in a most disgusting and dishonest way.

The funniest thing is that a moron like you believes in his own smartness.

BULLSHIT BALALAIKA, ITAR-TASS DID REPORT PLENTY ABOUT BABITSKY AND STILL DOES. (I PRETTY MUCH READ ONLY ITAR-TASS AND COUPLE OF CHECHEN SOURCES, WESTERN SOURCES ARE GOOD ONLY FOR, USUALLY, DUMB OPINIONS). BUT YOU ARE RIGHT WHEN YOU SAID, ITAR-TASS DIDN'T MAKE NOISE ABOUT BABITSKY, BECAUSE ITAR-TASS NEVER MAKES NOISE, IT ONLY REPORTS WHAT THEY KNOW. EVEN ABOUT THEIR KILLED JOURNALIST/PHOTOGRAPHER THEY REPORTED NOT WROTE A BIG WHINNING STORY. SO SUCK IT IN.

>> And what about Maria Esmonth? Why the russians didn't arrest her and many other who were on the rebel side?
OH THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME LAUGH. THE REASON MARIA WAS NEVER ARRESTED BECAUSE SHE NEVER LEFT HER MOSCOW (OR WAS IT ST-PETERSBOUR?) RESIDENCE. THE CLOSEST SHE GOT TO CHECHNYA WAS INGUSHETIA, IF EVEN THAT CLOSE.

YES SHE REPORTED HER "MINUTKA SQUARE MASSACRE" FROM HER CITY APARTMENT, I GUESS SHE WAS COUNTING DEAD ROACHES OR SOMETHING.

I can't believe many of you still believe those reports "the war will be over in so-and-so days". Half of those reports comes from Chechen sources, so they can discredit Russian army. Half of the remaining is mistranslated or specially misinterpreted , i.e. "this city has very good defenses, it will take us AT LEAST two weeks" gets translated in "IN TWO WEEKS we will take that city!".

ANYWAY, WHO CARES WHEN THE WAR WILL BE OVER?
Let's say that ten years from now (when everybody in Chechnya would want to stay in Russia) someone accidently shots a Russian soldier, or let's say a soldiers dies from falling of the roof ... are still going to yell "YAY, CHECHENS ARE STILL FIGHTING FOR THEIR INDEPENDENCE!!" ????

As for you who love to hear about killed Russians, here's a newsflash for you --- for every killed Russians, someone will make sure few Chechens dies. No doubt about that.
