You say that Chechens are few in numbers and not like Vietcong to carry out a guerilla war. But you seem to forget that more than a billion Muslims around the world fully back their brethren and will flood Russia if need be.
Russia will soon regret its adventure and plead Basayev for mercy. Ambushes will continue until last Russian soldier is killed in Chechnya. Then war will end only after Russia hands over war criminals.

It is time for the Russian soldiers to enter all the Chechen villages and round up all the Chechen males ages 9 through 99 and line them up against a wall and eliminate all those terrorists.
After that, all the Chechen women (who have provided proof that they did not support the Chechen bandits) should be dispersed to small villages all over Russia from the Kuril Islands to Archangelsk.

We can't say the soldiers killed in Ingushetia had nothing to do with Chechenya. It's too lose and borders are purely administratives.
