At a forum of the German National Democratic Party (NDP) in Munich, a delegation of the extremist Ukrainian National Assembly/Ukrainian People's Self Defense (UNA-UNSO) was met with a standing ovation. The reason for this very loud reaction was the repeated participation of UNSO fighters in Chechen events on the side of the national separatists. The NDP is a party that was made up after World War II of SS veterans. Its support made the UNSO members euphoric.

At its recent congress in Lviv, UNA-UNSO announced the founding of a "Chechnya-Ukraine-Germany-Spain Axis." Ukraine would be the key member. From these "courtesies" UNSO will go to the side of the new Austrian government in the spirit of "Sieg Haider!"

It appears that the idols of European ultra-nationalists in the new century won't be Adolf Hitler, but instead smaller fry, and the main Chechen terrorists Dudaev, Basaev, Raduev and Maskhadov are already among them. Ukraine will by no means permit its citizens to take part in the combat operation on the territory of Chechnya, Igor Grushko, head of the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, told Tass on Tuesday, commenting on the intention of leaders of the extremist right-wing UNA-UNSO party of Ukraine not to prevent its members from taking part in the armed conflict in Chechnya.

Igor Mazur, chairman of the Kiev branch of the UNA-UNSO party, announced on Monday his intention to support Chechen terrorists in this way. Members of the party took part in the previous Chechnya war on the side of Chechen gunmen.

Grushko reiterated the official stand of Kiev, which emphatically denounced terrorism in all forms and manifestations. He stressed that the Ukrainian authorities would take measures for preventing mercenaries of any nationality from penetrating to Russia via Ukraine.
